 Dr. Lancaster's Story Dr. Lancaster is a traditionally trained board certified physician who also uses the latest in Complimentary and Holistic medicine. He understands what it is like to be a patient. In his mid-twenties he experienced a life threatening illness and was hospitalized for over five weeks. During his recovery he reassessed the meaning of his life and decided to change careers to study medicine. Dr. Lancaster brings real world experience and extensive medical training to serve his patients. He has joined Life Span Medicine which is a team of integrative and holistic doctors located in Dallas, TX, and Santa Monica, CA. Treatment Approach and Philosophy Dr. Lancaster’s holistic approach to patient care includes treating the person: not just the disease. Symptoms are a sign of deeper problems and he will address these underlying issues. A person is the embodiment of body, mind, and spirit. He views the body as capable of self-regulation, self-healing, and he understands that structure and function are interrelated. During your initial one hour exam he will conduct a thorough history and an extensive structural and physical exam. Treatment will be individualized and will include hands-on Osteopathic Manipulation, cranial sacral, nutritional, herbal, and natural modalities, as well as pharmaceutical medications. He also uses biofeedback to relieve pain and stress. This helps patients learn how to control their pain naturally. During his undergraduate years he studied environmental science at Columbia University's Biosphere 2 Center in Tucson, Arizona. While learning about the complexity of ecosystems he realized how interconnected life is and how each component of a system, whether organic or inorganic, alive or inanimate, has an effect upon a system as a whole. This is a valuable lesson that he applies to the art of medicine. The human body is very complex with the interactions of many organ systems. Our body can be affected by how we think and what we eat. Dr Lancaster takes all of this into consideration when he treats his patients. He attended the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. During this time he completed a one year fellowship in Osteopathic Manipulation and became certified in Cranial Osteopathy by the Cranial Academy. He completed his internship at St. Joseph's Hospital in Philadelphia and his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Baylor Institute of Rehabilitation (BIR) in Dallas, TX. BIR has consistently been ranked as one of the top 20 rehab hospitals in the United States by US News and World Report. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Holistic Medicine which is the only peer reviewed certification in holistic and integrative medicine for Osteopathic Physicians and Medical Doctors and is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is licensed to practice medicine in both Texas and Florida.
